The area of Veekraal consists of 117 plots that are mostly zoned for agricultural use. Every plot is in the hands of private owners and many is either partially of fully developed for human habitation. Some are therefore permanently inhabited while others are used recreationally on an ad hoc basis by their owners. In addition to the owners, there are also tenants, workers and others residing in Veekraal.
Some of the owners have opted for establishing a voluntary body to collectively address issues that are in the common interest – the Veekraal Owners Association (VOA). Despite the fact that the VOA has no say over any party, it is its intension to have a positive effect that are in the interest of the Veekraal community.
